The UP Board was established in the year 1921 and operates under the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Act, 1921. It is headquartered in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh. The board's primary functions include prescribing the syllabus, conducting examinations, and providing certifications to the qualified students. The high school (10th) examination conducted by the UP Board is known as the High School Examination, while the intermediate (12th) examination is known as the Intermediate Examination.
